[Perform-Talk] Midi software

Hello,
Thanks for explaining. I'm not the best person to ask about free
software. I use a paid product called Sonar and version 8.5 was the
last completely accessible version and, even with that, you needed to
download an interface piece of software, which was free. Reeper is
good but that is paid. It's a means of recording what you do but you
would need some software which would act as a plug in, to get midi out
of your computer to the keyboard and back and forth. Is the keyboard
you're buying only a control surface? If it is an ordinary keyboard
and you want to learn the keyboard, you wouldn't need to use a
computer just to get the sound. It sounds like you're not buying a
keyboard but you're buying a control surface which acts as a physical
interface between you and the computer. For example, you could use the
computer keyboard to generate the sounds, without buying a keyboard,
with the correct software. It wouldn't be anywhere near the same
experience though. Someone else on the list, with more midi
synthesizer experience than I have, would be better placed to help
you.

Very best wishes,
Sandra.
