[Perform-Talk] The Exciting World of Busking and Other Performances!

Dear Sandra,

Thank you for your message of support! March 18 is the City of Tampa's "River o' green" where they die the Hillsborough River green in honor of St. Patty's Day! There will be thousands of people on the River Walk, so it should be a great day for me! I am brushing up on some of my Irish folk music and hope to take some videos to post on my YouTube channel!

One of the things you buskers out there need to do is pay attention to the local schedule of events where there will be a large number of people gathering. Successful busking is a numbers game. The more people who hear you, the more people will drop money in your tip jar! When I busked at our pirate invasion parade called Gasparilla, there were about 300,000 along the parade route. At my perch near the end of the route, I made $91. Busking on a Friday night in our entertainment district called Ybor City, I have been averaging about $35. That's not much for two hours of playing but it gives me the chance to work on new music and, at the end of the month, I've paid my electric bill! People are also picking up my cards and could contact me for a private gig where I will earn $300 - 400 for a 3-hour performance!

Happy busking!
Marion

Hello Marion,
Many congratulations on your busking and I hope you get loads more tips to fill that jar!
