> He responded to my inquiry almost immediately. He said he has had one visually impaired student ′adult′ in the past and it was a wonderful experience. He didn't elaborate on whether the student he had was a braille reader or if he just recorded music for her to learn by ear, but he said it worked out wonderfully for both of them. My previous teacher would use a tape recorder to record herself as she said out loud the right how notes separately, the chords for the left hand separately, then how to put them together and I would learn the music that way. We did that for quite a few years, then when I got older and could process more information, she switched to teaching me both parts together a few measures at a time. We also moved away from the tap€ recorder and started doing everything at the lesson. I had a different teacher before her who would scold me every time I m at de a mistake or did anything wrong, so it took a while for my playing to get to a reasonable level. I was only seven at the time and couldn't
> speak up to the teacher, but now that I'm an adult, I think the experience will be much different since I know what I need to be successful. The teacher wants to talk on the phone to discuss in more detail and m at ybe set up a trial lesson, so we'll see how it goes.
