I'm sorry you are going through this. You'll have to keep trying until you find the theater company that does take you seriously. And it might be out of your area. I don't live in Elmhurst but I live a half hour away from there and that's where the symphony rehearse is. They They were the ones who finally took me after three tries. I know it sucks but you need to keep trying until you find the one person who will take you seriously.
