Subject: Looking for college students who are blind or low vision
Hello Colleagues,
I hope you're doing well.
I'm reaching out to see if you know any blind or low vision college students who may be interested in participating in an exciting accessibility initiative.
I am collaborating with a second-year graduate student at Yale University who has developed an AI-powered PDF accessibility tool and AI-powered document reader. We are looking for students who can provide PDF documents they have found difficult to access—or even documents they have successfully read—to help us evaluate and improve the software.
The project is designed to do more than simply make PDFs accessible. In addition to creating an accessible version of the document, the software:
* Uses a natural-sounding voice instead of a traditional screen reader voice
* Generates a summary of the document
* Allows users to jump directly back to specific sections without having to start reading from the beginning
* Allows users to freely navigate through alternative text
* Includes a built-in tutor feature so users can ask learning-related questions about the document
Participants will help by reviewing the remediated documents, identifying what works well, and providing feedback on how accessibility can be improved.
Participant role & perks: If you'd like to experience the tool yourself, simply email us a document you'd like to try, and we'll convert it into an HTML file for you to explore. (After completing the form below, please do not send documents to this email address)
If you know someone who may be interested, please feel free to forward this email to them. If you'd like to participate, please submit your email address through this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeNP8UhIuyLLESOj5G3Zko46ivPeuJAe76lgxxdHQcpTOn0sA/viewform?usp=dialog
Thank you for helping us make digital information more accessible. I appreciate your support and look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Have an awesome day on purpose!
