I graduated from NIU a "million" years ago and it was a great program, then. I'm sure it's even better, now. GOOD LUCK!!! PJ

I think the number of blind teachers of the blind is steadily becoming
arger. I've met or heard of many. I'm one of the up-and-rising TVIs,
ehind you.
I'm Jewel, and I'm in my first year of college after years as a
ive-in and -out nanny. I'm a non-traditional, being 25. I lost my
ight in '08 due to a chemical burn to the face, and now see only
ight and colour, though my non-literal vision could never be better!
I'm hoping to go to Northern Illinois University for my transfer from
ommunity college here in North Carolina. My biggest concern? Leaving
y support system (adoptive mom, little sister, many friends, and a
reat NFB group) two time zones and hundred of miles away. I admit,
'm a second-round just-leaving-home kid.
How are your studies at Vanderbilt going? What a great school. What is
he VI program like there? Welcome to the list, and I'm sure you'll
ind many more who are interested in the cliche of the blind leading
he blind becoming a reality.

 Hello all,
I just joined the list and thought I would introduce myself. My name is
Greg Aikens and I am a first year master's student at Vanderbilt University
in the Program in Visual Disabilities. I am totally blind and look forward
to connecting with other professionals in the field, especially others who
are also blind. I have been surprised to find so very few blind individuals
 working in blindness education.

I look forward to connecting with you all in the future.
