Please join us for the third in our monthly Web Cast Series. This month, WCBVI Transition Coordinator David Ballmann will be covering how to move from high school to post-secondary programs. We plan this as the first of a series of programs dedicated to this important subject area.

He will cover:

Introduction to transition:
What are the transition requirements of I.D.E.A.?
How does the transition process work?
And who should be involved; what team members are responsible for what transition goals?

We will also cover Employment:

How to gain basic work skills.
How to gain work experience.
How to get work opportunities including job shadowing, volunteering, working  at home, and school.

The second in the series, on February 15  will cover:

Self-advocacy:
Where to start with self-advocacy skills.
What to know; knowing yourself, your disabilities and limitations, what works, accommodations.
Knowledge of disability legislation; I.D.E.A., ADA, civil rights law.

Our resources for these programs will be available from the WCBVI Outreach web site. They will include:

Opening Doors to Employment.
Opening Doors to Postsecondary Education.
