Hi list,

Someone sent me a job opening at the lavelle school for the blind for a preschool teacher. I have certificcation as teacher of the blind and visually impaired and permanent certification as special education teacher to teach all grade levels. I do not know Spanish. Does anyone who works at this instution know a starting salary for a classroom teacher as teacher of the blind and visually impaired? I forgot to mention that I have taught the population of students who are multiple impaired including blindness and visual impairment at a an approved non-public school for the past two years as teacher of the blind and visually inmpaired providing the related service of vision education services according to the manates on each child's IEP. I have written my own IEP goals and short term objectives and annual reports about the students that is submitted to the local district committee spedial education. I have worked with the school age population but not with the preschool population.. Can anyone tell me the starting salary one should expect to get or can this issue be negotiated? I will consider applying for the position but will see if I get called down for an interview.

If I can find such a job I could get three years full ttime paid classroom teacher teaching experience and mentoring experience and then apply for a professional certification as teacher of the blind and visually impaired.

Applying for these jobs though does not mean you are called for an interview. I applied at the Jewish Guild for the Blind for such a position but was never called down. The preschool program closed down and now the guild school only exists.
