Amy, I set up times with teachers and meet you right where you are at...as in virtual, which is a tool in itself. If you have JAWS on your machine and a phone...I can get you going to truly having ease at learning what you need to know.
It is just a matter of finding mutual times that we can do this. Typically, I have office hours Thur and Fri before 10 and sometimes on Monday before 10.

>Denise do you ever run a 'tech' weekend for specific skills to help TVI's get it figured out to help our students?  By the time I get a tech skill with JAWS or B'note figured out, I'm out of time usually. It would be an absolute gift to be able to spend time with you doing hands-on work and leave with some practical lessons to use.

>>Good question. I do these with my totally blind students. Yes, at first they need direction and help. The lessons I attached to the information is what really guides them, helps them and gives them the direction they need to do this all by themselves. With a little practice they can do it all.
>>
>>I even had a senior do her senior project on doing all these types of inserts in her powerpoint presentation all by herself in front of a crowd. She was written up in the local newspaper because everyone thought it so amazing...just practice, thats all.

>>>I've attempted these things as someone who is totally blind, and have experienced great difficulty in doing so. For one thing, how do you truly know what the borders look like? And how do you truly know your work is aligned perfectly/centered correctly after borders are added? How do you truly know what the pictures you want to insert look like, or if they really did copy correctly? It seems that this message applies primarily to those with partial vision.

>>>How to Make your Work LOOK Beautiful
>>>In the upper elementary school, and beyond, students are asked to make their presentation or research papers look colorful. Where sighted children are cutting and pasting onto their work, blind and low vision students are taught how to make their fonts with great color, putting borders of artwork around paragraphs, words or the whole page. Students also insert pictures and position them where they need along with different types of WordArt.
>>>
>>>All the Basics of Inserting Word Art and Clip Art just click on Office 2003 or Office 2010 to get what you need.
>>>
>>>All the Basics on making your font colorful and stylish are found at Office 2003 and Office 2010 The same commands work in both Office products.
>>>
>>>Enjoy and have fun. Students Love knowing they can do anything their sighted peers can do when the teacher starts giving directions, they just do it on a computer. It is a huge confidence builder and reinforces all their skills now and makes them want to learn even more so they can tackle anything that comes up in the future.
