I had a sighted, non-Braille reading music teacher use Dancing Dots in elementary school with my student. She used it for the regular music & for when my student began learning flute.

Hello all,

I have a sixth grade Braille reading student that is getting interested in music. His music teacher (sighted in mainstream classroom, no Braille skills) is interested in assisting him with learning the theory and basics. At this time, he is trying out Percussion (drums) with him.

Do you have a suggestion for a Braille music program that a sighted teacher could manage to help him out? I suggested the Dancing Dots programs, but the teacher felt it may be too high level (thinking 9th grade level).

I am not familiar enough with Music Braille myself to be of great help to him, and don't have time to take a course right now.

Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

Amy
