The position is titled Health Educator because the Rehab Teacher job title is not available within State Personnel Office guidelines.  Duties of this position include but are not limited to instruction in the following areas: Orientation and Mobility, Personal Management, Technology, Adaptive Equipment, Braille, Home Management and/ or Industrial Arts. - Salary: The salary range for this position is $30,534-$54,308 per year ($14.68-$26.11 per hour). Offered salary will be based on education and experience.

- Purpose of Position: This position will provide blindness skills training to blind and visually impaired vocational rehabilitation consumers at the New Mexico Commission for the Blind's Orientation Center located in Alamogordo, NM.
- Duties Include: Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Instruction in the following areas: Orientation and Mobility, Personal Management, Technology, Adaptive Equipment, Braille, Home Management and/ or Industrial Arts.
- Educational requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Rehabilitation or Social Services is required for this position.  
- Experience: Four (4) years of  Independent Living Teaching, Special Education, or working with the blind is required for this position.
- Employment Requirements: Certification in Orientation and Mobility and/or Braille is not required for this position but is preferred.
- Bargaining Unit Position: This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
- Working Environment: Work is conducted primarily in a classroom setting, with weekly activities that occur outside of the Center.  Orientation/Mobility requires extensive outdoor travel.  Some evenings, weekend and overnight travel may be required.
