[rehab] question for the list

Dear Justin and Listers,
I think that depends on what the person actually gains, in the way
of insight, during immersion training and experiences; how quickly some
forget what being blind, albeit temporarily, was like.

Agreed. One way of the other, they have to be able to teach you with the
methods you will be using. I'mnot going to say that everyone must me
immersed, but doing so can speed up the process in many cases, and can
provide incite In to how certain skills can best be applied.

I am a consumer, and wouldn't accept training from someone who wasn't
proficient in the skills I wish to learn without sight. I learned Braille
from sighted teachers who read the code with their fingers alone without
sight, and was taught to cook and clean, and iron by a totally blind
person. I think the quality improves when the sighted person uses the same
skills on an equal footing with me.
