JOB POSTING
Position Title: Woodshop Instructor Adult CORE Program
Department: Rehabilitation
Schedule:
8:00 am - 4:30 pm, M-F
Evenings/Weekends
as required
Salary:
$32,500 - $48,750
Note:
Part Time Options are available for this position.
Reporting to: Andy McIver
Essential Position Functions:
1. Administer standard training curriculum and
individualized student training plans for Woodshop-Home Maintenance classes.
2. Administer non-visual skills training and
confidence building techniques to instruct
students in the use of hand tools and power
equipment for basic and/or advanced woodworking.
3. Assist students in project conception and
design, problem solving, time management, and
other skills necessary for timely completion of
lessons, projects, and home maintenance tasks.
4. Provide blindness philosophy training to CORE Students.
5. Provide CORE curriculum monitoring and evaluation.
6. Prepare monthly reports and evaluations.
7. Provide mentoring to CORE students.
8. Coordinate and provide outreach
presentations to organizations, agencies, and
community groups in a recruiting effort for all rehab programs.
9. Attend state and national conventions of the blind.
10. Provide blindness counseling to students and families.
11. Work closely with Youth and
Senior training programs as needed.
12. Available for weekly and/or overnight travel as needed.
13. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum Attendance Required: 100%.
2. Previous training and/or experience in carpentry/woodworking.
3. Must be proficient in alternative skills of blindness.
4. A positive belief in the ability of blind people in all situations.
5. Understand the importance of effective
communication and functioning as a team member.
