Salary: Starting salary will be between $22.470-$37.076 per hour
($46,917-$77,414 per year). Additional compensation up to $2.97 per hour
may be given for relevant credits beyond a Bachelor's degree. This position
is in pay schedule 81, range 03. A twelve month probationary period is
required.

The Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Center for the Blind and
Visually Impaired (WCBVI) is currently seeking a full-time (year-round)
Principal. This position is located at 1700 W State Street, Janesville.



The WCBVI operates a residential school for state residents ages three to
twenty who are blind or have visual impairments. The school provides
academic and career education on site. The school also offers instructional
and technical assistance, teaching materials and evaluations of pupils to
local school districts and other agencies.



Job Duties:

The Principal will administer, supervise, and provide leadership for the
educational program of the Wisconsin School for the Blind and Visually
Impaired (WSBVI).  Leadership duties will include supervision and
assignment of instructional staff, implementation of the Educator
Effectiveness program, allocation of resources, oversight for curriculum
development and implementation, and enforcement of policies and practices.
This position is responsible for ensuring the provision of a free
appropriate public education for prospective and enrolled pupils through
the implementation of their individualized education programs (IEPs).



This position will function as an integral part of the WCBVI Leadership
Team, including participation in leadership meetings to provide consistency
and coordination across WCBVI, for both current and future initiatives.
This position will coordinate student services: with the Outreach Director
for short-course programming; with the Dean of Students and Guidance
Counselor for residential programming and discipline; and with the
Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for timely fulfillment of work
orders/requests and other facilities/food service matters.

Special Notes:



Licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Department of Public
Instruction as a K-12 Principal (5051), Director of Special Education and
Pupil Services (5080), or District Administrator (5003).



A criminal background check will be conducted prior to an offer of hire.



Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



Knowledge of:  principles and practices related to the education of
students with disabilities; the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
(IDEA); child development; methods and techniques of school operations;
principles and practices or organization and coordination of educational
programs which are residentially based; techniques for interpersonal
relationships and personnel management; techniques in measuring for
outcomes of educational programming; curriculum methods, development, and
implementation; behavior management techniques; oral and written
communication skills; mediation and conflict resolution techniques; and
Educator Effectiveness teacher evaluation techniques.
