[rehab] [Jobs] Vonage business

Kelsey:
I called Vonage Business to try and get you some answers but after an
endless loop of being transferred from department to department no one at
Vonage had any answers; so I called Freedom Scientific. Freedom Scientific
told me that although they do not directly have any scripts built into the
JAWS program for VoIP or soft phones that scripts can be written to ensure
the screen is accessible. The Technical Support Rep at Freedom Scientific
told me they have clients who use Vonage so she was familiar with the
question.

I hope this helps!

Hi Kelsey,
I am afraid the technological questions you ask are beyond me. I am
forwarding this to both the jobs and rehab lists to see if a kind individual
either has the answer or can help you find one. I also suggest you contact
the International Braille and Technology Center at the National Center for
the Blind. The phone there is 410-659-9314. There are many smart people
there who can help you answer these kinds of questions.

Subject: vonage business

Hi Dick,
I was hoping you could help me out or forward my inquiry to someone who can.
I just found out at our company meeting today that we are switching from a
traditional phone service to Vonage Business. I have no experience with
Vonage, so I was wondering if Vonage Business is accessible with JAWS.
Also, can I still use my dual headset or would the state need to purchase
something else? All my experience has been with traditional phone service
and I therefore do not know anything about VOIP and assistive technology. I
think they are starting this in the new year, so I'd like to start
researching this now so my employer can plan appropriate alternatives is
necessary. Also, if the cloud based system is not accessible with JAWS,
would it be a reasonable accommodation for the company to allow me to keep
my traditional phone? I tried looking on Vonage's website to see if there
was anything about accessibility, but I did not see anything.
Therefore, could you forward this inquiry to someone who might be able to
answer my question?
Thank you,
Kelsey Nicolay
