Dear List Members,
I’m happy to tell you that the issue we raised this morning has been
successfully resolved by Wells Fargo, Career Eco/Bender Consulting, and the
NFB working together. Thanks to Kolby Garrison for her help. James Gagnier
was able to identify some accessibility issues that Career Eco was glad to
fix. I don’t know if the fixes will be complete by the time the career fair
begins, but they should be soon. The following email from Monica Victorino
of Wells Fargo provides information that some of you may need to access the
career fair. I hope many of you get jobs as a result.
Best wishes,
Dick Davis, Chair
NFB Employment Committee

Hello Dick,
It was a pleasure speaking with you today. Thank you for providing Anil and
I with the user experience update. The moment we received your email this
morning, we alerted the organization right away. Bender Consulting
Services, Inc. partners with CareerEco to deliver the Bender virtual Career
Fairs for People with Disabilities.
Enclosed is the latest update from CareerEco/Bender organization.

“We have been able to review the accessibility concern. It is true that the
fields in questions are not labeled. They are working with the team to
address this as a priority.
As it pertains to the ability to use the application to make a selection in
drop down fields, you are able to do so. While the method that you use is
not the typical method a screen reader user would go though, it provides a
workable method.
Making a selection in drop down fields:
- To select an item from the drop down, you must read to the field, or
navigate more quickly by pressing the F key to go down and the SHIFT+F key
combination to move up.
- Once you land on a list field, NVDA will say the word “list.” JAWS
will say “list box.” To go into the list, you must press ENTER to go into
Forms mode. To start scrolling through list items, you must press
ALT+DownArrow. You can then arrow to find the selection you want to make.
Then, instead of tabbing, you must press ENTER to complete filling out the
list with your choice.
- Note: With JAWS, you can also press C and SHIFT+C, which moves through
combo boxes and list fields, but you cannot do this with NVDA.
I also wanted to let you know that these steps are included in the Screen
User Guide provided on CareerEco’s website.”
