[Rehab] Summer internship opportunities within the rehabilitation counseling field

Hi Vejas,

The suggestion of working with a training center is a good one, but there
are two things to consider.
First, you would need to be supervised by a CRC wherever you intern. Several
of our centers have a CRC on site, but that is something to consider.
Second, the activities would need to be related to the VR counseling field,
so it would be awesome at a center if you could do work such as reviewing
consumer's IPE's, working with them on understanding their rights, SSI/SSDI
rules, and some job readiness/career counseling activities.

Good luck, let me know if I can help

Subject: [Rehab] Summer internship opportunities within the rehabilitation
counseling field

Hi everyone,
My name is Vejas Vasiliauskas. I am currently in the second semester of my
first year in the masters in rehabilitation counseling program at Cal State
LA in Los Angeles.
Last summer I had planned to intern for my rehabilitation counselor. Because
of coronavirus and the difficulty of figuring out logistics, this did not
work out and I volunteered for another organization.
In the middle of January this year my counselor was selected to help with
vaccine distribution, and with the increase in vaccines it is not looking
likely that interning for her for this summer will happen.
I was wondering if anyone might know of any other options for summer
experience related to the rehabilitation counseling field? I am also going
to contact my school faculty as well.
Thank you,
Vejas
