Job Summary

This position exists to provide low vision training on assistive technology
(AT), personally customized training materials and intensive,
individualized customer training for State Services for the Blind (SSB) in
the Workforce Development Unit (WDU) and employers. The incumbent provides
expertise in the areas of low vision and blindness technologies, technology
instruction, development of curriculum materials, implementation of
training and technical support to low vision, and DeafBlind Minnesotans
seeking competitive integrated employment. The incumbent has the complex
task of integrating mainstream and assistive technologies.

This position also trains and updates SSB staff, service providers,
community-based agencies, partners, and other interested persons in
utilizing and adapting information systems and developing assistive
technology solutions for low vision, and DeafBlind customers.

*Job Responsibilities:*

   - Train customers on low vision technology such as screen magnification
   software, CCTV’s/video magnifiers, low vision wearables, etc.
   - Develop curriculum
   - Perform other training related tasks

Qualifications
*Minimum Qualifications*

*To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should
clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification
listed, including dates of employment.*

Two (2) years* of experience providing technological instructional services
for people with vision loss or other disabilities

*Bachelor's degree in vocational rehabilitation, education, or related
social service or other closely related field as determined by the agency
may substitute one (1) year of experience; master’s degree substitutes for
eighteen (18) months of experience; PhD substitutes for twenty-four (24)
months of experience

*Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further
evaluated on the following:*

Knowledge of assistive technology and the accessibility qualities of common
technology

Experience using and training others to use low vision technology such as;
screen magnification features and software for Windows, Mac, IOS, and
Android; desktop, transportable, and handheld CCTV’s video magnifiers;
ZoomText; Fusion; Zoom for IOS; Windows Magnifier; low vision wearable
devices; other low and high tech low vision aids and devices

Knowledge of concepts related to learning styles to individualize
technology training

Incumbent must maintain valid driver's license, & insurance, OR have other
reliable transportation
*Preferred Qualifications*

Experience teaching technology to individuals with vision loss

Designing accessible approaches which will allow blind, visually impaired,
and DeafBlind persons to work independently in environments primarily
designed for sighted persons

an Adjustment to Blindness training center and can run up to 6-7 weeks.
