Contacts App in iOS 16:  Rita’s iDevice Advice for October 31, 2022

You can long press on a Contact from the main Contacts list, and delete that contact.

When you open a specific Contact for an individual or Company, there are Rotor actions for the Contact name, the Message Button, and the FaceTime button:  Swipe up with one finger on the Contact name, and you will get the option to "Copy" the name of the Contact, swipe up on the message Button,  and you will get "Show other options" the various phone and e-mail information for that specific Contact (such as, Mobil number, or home phone number, etc), swipe up on the FaceTime Button and you will get "Show other options".

Create and Name a Contact Group List:
You can create groups of Contacts, called "Lists".  Open the Contacts app, go to the main list, There is an Add List button.
You can add anyone who is in your contact list.
When you make a new list for the first time, you will be asked to name that list, before adding people to the list.  Both Apple users and Android users can be added to your Group List.

When you open the named Group, there will be an option "to e-mail all ing the Group".

How to Share Contact Information from Your iPhone, How to Merge Contacts, etc:
You can send contact details (also known as a contact card) via text or email directly from the Contacts app in your iPhone. Do you often find yourself typing out phone numbers or addresses into a text when you need to share one contact's information with another contact? When you add people to your contacts, a contact card is automatically created on your iPhone for each contact so that all of the contact's information is grouped into one place. This makes it simple to share a contact on your iPhone using a few steps.
How to send contact information using the Contacts app on your iPhone:
1.  First, go to Contacts. 
2.  Tap the contact whose information you wish to share.
3.  Tap Share Contact.
4.  Choose a sharing method, such as email or text message.
5.  Choose a recipient and tap Send.

Open the Contacts app.
If you're in a specific list (such as iCloud contacts), tap Lists in the top-left corner.
Tap All Contacts to view all of your saved contacts in one place. (You cannot see the View Duplicates option unless you're in the All Contacts list.) If you have duplicates, you’ll see a prompt at the top of the screen beneath your contact card. Tap View Duplicates.
Tap Merge All if you have multiple duplicate contacts.
If you only have one duplicate, you can tap the contact name.
Tap Merge.
Tap Merge again to confirm.
When all the duplicate contacts have been merged, you’ll see a Duplicates Resolved message at the top of your contacts list.After that, any duplicate contacts in your phone should be merged together into a single contact card. If any duplicate contact cards appear again in the future, you can follow the same process to merge them.

How to Dial An Extension on an iPhone & Save Extensions to Contacts:
This is especially useful for those who regularly contact businesses or call into conferences.
How to Dial an Extension on an iPhone.
Open the Phone app.
Dial the main number you’re calling.
Press and hold the * (asterisk) until a comma appears. The comma acts as a pause and lets your phone know it’s dialing an extension.
Now enter the extension number after the comma.
Tap the green Call button and you’ll dial straight to the person you’re trying to reach.
How to Save Extensions in Your iPhone Contacts If you plan to regularly call an extension, you can save it in your Contacts. That way, the next time you go to dial the extension, it will already be saved as it needs to be dialed.

How to save a phone number with an extension to your Contacts on iPhone:
Open the Contacts app.
For our how-to, we’re assuming you already have the number saved. If not, simply create a new contact by tapping the plus sign.
Tap on the contact in which you want to add an extension.
Tap Edit in the upper-right corner.
Tap the number you’re adding the extension to, or tap the plus icon next to add phone to add a new phone number for the contact.
Tap the symbols button on your keyboard.
With the cursor at the end of the phone number, tap Pause to insert a comma.
Now enter the extension.
Tap Done to save.
Now you can dial an extension, before you even get to the operator, and you can also add these auto-dialed extensions to your contacts as well.

How to Add Your Favorite Contacts Widget to the Home Screen on an iPhone.
You can add one, four, or six of your favorite contacts to the Home screen for easy access.

When running VoiceOver, perform a one finger double tap gesture when the directions say to tap on an item.
Long press on the Home screen until you see the app icons begin to wiggle.  This is a one finger double tap and hold gesture, when running VoiceOver, or swipe up until you hear “Edit Mode”.
Tap the + icon in the upper-left corner.  VoiceOver will say “Add Widget” for the + icon.
Scroll down or type "Contacts" in the search bar to find the Contacts widget.
Tap Contacts.
First, you'll see an option to add a single contact to your Home screen. Swipe to see options to add four or six contacts.
When you've decided how many of your favorite contacts you'd like to add to your Home screen, tap Add Widget.
Your favorite contacts (those you communicate with the most) have been added to your Home screen as the Contacts widget! You can long press and drag the widget to move it around or tap a blank space on your Home screen to exit Jiggle Mode. To see options to message, call, video chat, or email a contact, simply tap on their icon within the Contacts widget.

Now it is easier to delete a contact in your Contacts app.
Locate a Contact card and long press on that contact, and pop up menu comes up and you can delete the contact here.
