APH FamilyConnect and the Chicago Lighthouse are pleased to offer this virtual support group for parents and families of children who are blind or visually impaired. These monthly sessions are for families to connect with and learn from each other about the joys, challenges, and adventures of raising children with visual impairments and blindness. These sessions are open to families. No ACVREP or professional development credits will be available.

Activities to Support Motor Skills
Motor skills are important for children of all abilities to acquire to lead an active lifestyle. Children with visual impairments and disabilities often require modified equipment and instructional strategies to acquire motor skills. It is not only important to use their preferred communication methods and appropriate instructional strategies, but also monitor each child’s progress. Parents and practitioners can help facilitate a child’s motor skill development by providing appropriate opportunities, support, and modifications. This talk will teach attendees strategies and activities to support the development of motor skills in children with visual impairments. Participants will also receive a variety of free resources to support their child’s motor skill development. These resources can be used by the parents as well as shared with their child’s support staff.

The LEGO Foundation Braille Bricks Live Sessions!
The LEGO Foundation offers nine 45-minute LEGO Braille Bricks live sessions! Anyone can join: whether you are following the current online course, have assisted to a previous webinar or are just curious.
These monthly interactive sessions are all independent and have specific topics and special international guests. This will be a great opportunity to speak live, share experiences/knowledge and challenge each other to go further with LEGO Braille bricks!
