We are excited to unveil our Spanish-language site for users to access a
curated collection of resources for both prospective and current patrons to
get the most out of NLS service. By clicking on a link at the top of our
main homepage or visiting www.loc.gov/nls/es/ <http://www.loc.gov/nls/es/> ,
those curious about NLS can learn how to apply for service and find
information about the benefits of service, all en español. For current
Spanish-speaking patrons, discovering the newest books in Spanish audio and
braille formats is easier than ever. 

This rollout comes at an important anniversary. On February 8, 2019, the
United States became the 50th member state to join the Marrakesh Treaty, a
landmark agreement allowing for the international exchange of
accessible-format titles to serve those who are blind, visually impaired,
and print disabled. This resulted in a veritable explosion of foreign
language materials – many of them in Spanish – in our NLS Catalog, from
modern bestsellers to treasured classics. Now, four years since joining this
historic global initiative, NLS is proud to showcase our wealth of
accessible resources and to make a space available for Spanish speakers with
visual and physical disabilities so that ALL may read.

Estamos emocionados de revelar nuestro sitio web en español para que los
usuarios accedan a la colección curada de recursos que permitirán a usuarios
potenciales y actuales sacar el máximo provecho del servicio NLS. Por hace
clic en el enlace encima de nuestra página principal o visite
<http://www.loc.gov/nls/es> www.loc.gov/nls/es, los curiosos sobre NLS
puedan aprender como solicitar el servicio y buscar información sobre sus
beneficios, todo en español. Por usuarios actuales de habla hispana, es más
fácil descubrir los libros más nuevos en español en formatos en audio y de
braille.

Este lanzamiento llega en un aniversario importante. En el 8 de febrero de
2019, los EEUU fueron el estado miembro 50 en unirse al tratado Marrakech,
un acuerdo emblemático que permite el intercambio internacional de títulos
de formato accesible para servir a personas ciegas, con discapacidad visual
y con dificultades para acceder al texto impreso. Eso ha resultado en una
explosión verdadera de materiales en lenguas extranjeras, muchos en español,
en el Catalogo de NLS, incluyendo los más vendidos modernos a los clásicos
atesorados. Ahora, cuatro años después de unirse esta histórica iniciativa
mundial, NLS está orgulloso de mostrar nuestra riqueza de recursos y de
hacer un espacio disponible a hispanohablantes con discapacidades visuales y
