Obstacle Detector is a powerful obstacle detection application, specially designed for visually impaired people to travel. It can help visually impaired people better avoid surrounding obstacles and avoid harm.

It uses the latest technology to measure distance through the LiDAR scanner and TrueDepth camera equipped on the iPhone. It has the characteristics of stability and high accuracy. The longest measurement distance is up to 5 meters, with a centimeter-level error! Designed for blind people.

The app offers a one-time 5-minute trial that begins when you first open it. A longer trial period would be preferable, and the ability to start the trial when you're ready would be more convenient, as it can take several minutes to navigate the interface and determine which options to enable or disable. Object recognition is rather limited but is not turned on by default. As with any LiDAR usage, battery drain is a concern, but the app provides an adjustment for the frequency interval to help conserve battery life. Distance speech is metric-only, with no option for imperial measurements. This app would be ideal for hands-free use with an iPhone lanyard, particularly in busy environments or for those seeking reassurance about obstacle placement. After the trial ends, a one-time $5.99US purchase grants permanent access.
