Cooking with The Blind Kitchen

Everyone has a place at the table in The Blind Kitchen!
Welcome to The Blind Kitchen's monthly newsletter, where we talk about our adaptive tools, helpful strategies, and specialized knowledge provided to blind and vision-impaired people who want to cook safely, confidently, and independently.

>From the Store:

The Blind Kitchen offers tools and techniques that make cooking at home safe and enjoyable for blind and vision-impaired home cooks. This is what we are really excited about right now!

Work Trays: The above image shows our work trays. They are durable flat plastic trays with raised edges. One is dark colored and one is light colored.

Work Trays
Our work trays are a must in any visually impaired cook’s kitchen. Chef Debra slices food right on the plastic tray, and the raised edges keep the cut food on the tray instead of skittering onto your counter or floor. Work trays also contain spills and make clean-up easy and fast.

Cooking without Looking TV Show:

Debra challenged her former culinary instructor, Chef Earl Frederick of McClaskey Culinary Institute of Clark College (Vancouver, WA) to try his luck in 'cooking without looking.' We had a lot of fun as both Chefs worked to create this months featured recipe of Shrimp Poached in Orange Juice Butter Sauce with Ginger, Star Anise and Wine.
