Freedom Scientific Software Changes: Info & Options 

Freedom Scientific recently announced global changes to how JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion licenses are upgraded and renewed.

Since sharing the changes with our customers, we've received some feedback that the information may have been overcomplicated or been lost in translation. 

So, we're reaching out with simplified information that should cover what you need to know. Plus some audio content, as many of us prefer to keep up to date this way. What's Changing? 

1. Step-Upgrades Are Ending

*	From 31 October 2025, step-upgrades will no longer be available.
*	Customers on version 2024 or earlier must upgrade before this date or they will have to purchase a brand-new license in future.
*	Upgrading before 31st October includes an SMA (which includes 24 months of updates).

2. New Subscription Option
Available To All

*	A new subscription model is available for both new and existing customers.
*	Subscription terms: 1-year, 2-year, or 3-year.
*	Includes all updates for the duration of the subscription.

Options For Existing Customers 

1. Renew SMA

*	Customers already on version 2025 should renew their SMA (Software Maintenance Agreement) before it expires.
*	An SMA provides 24 months of updates and ensures they stay on the latest version without needing to buy a new license.
*	Customers that choose this option should ensure that they renew their SMA before their SMA expires. If they do not renew, then their software license will remain active, but in order to upgrade they will need to purchase a new license or switch to subscription. 

2. Upgrade Your Existing Software

*	Customers can upgrade their existing software until 31 October 2025.
*	Customers that choose this option should understand that after 31 October 2025 in order to get the latest version of their software, they will need to purchase a new license or switch to subscription. 

3. Switch To Subscription

*	The new subscription model is available for both new and existing customers.
*	Subscription terms: 1-year, 2-year, or 3-year.
*	Includes all updates for the duration of the subscription.
*	There is currently 30% OFF all 2-year Home subscriptions until 31 October 2025.
