File Management

Managing files is a fundamental skill when using a PC. Naming, organizing, retrieving, sorting and backing up your files effectively is essential when dealing with documents, spreadsheets, presentations and other media. Especially when you or others have spent so much time and effort creating them!
So we will be covering all you need to know about file management without the mouse over the next month or so.
We are using Windows 11 with latest updates.

This Week's Shortcut:

Last week, we looked at multiple file selection which enables you to copy, move or delete several files at the same time.
When copying or moving files, it may be handy to have the source folder and destination folder open in different windows or different tabs. So you can copy/cut between windows/tabs.
To open a new File Explorer window, press Control + N. And switch between windows with Alt + Tab.
To open a new File Explorer tab in the same File Explorer window, press Control + T. And switch between tabs with Control + Tab.
File Explorer windows behave the same as standard windows, and File Explorer tabs behave the same as tabs in a Web browser. <https://sharons-shortcuts.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b8f7789e1b727d353e4123491&id=e9241e880e&e=d18fbd04e9> Follow this link for more information on Web tabs.

Next Week's Webinar Wednesday: Meet NOA

NOA (Navigation Obstacle detection AI) is an all-in-one mobility aid developed by the Swiss start-up biped, and is just about to enter the Sight and Sound Technology portfolio. It's a light vest, worn on the shoulders, with cameras on the left side of the chest, buttons on the right side of the chest, and a battery pack behind the head. NOA speaks to the user like a mobility companion. It provides GPS instructions that are sidewalk-level accurate, describes the surroundings in real-time using AI and it generates short 'click' sounds when an obstacle is detected. NOA can, for example, guide a user to a destination, detect a low hanging branch on the way, and find a door to enter a building. NOA was developed with over 300 testers and orientation and mobility trainers.
This webinar will take place on Wednesday 5th March 2025 at 2pm (GMT).
