We have decided to spotlight Firefox in our Shortcut of the Week for the next few months. Many of the shortcuts are the same in all the main Web browsers, but there are some that are specific to Firefox, so we will explain this as we go along.
At time of posting, we are using Firefox version 147.0.1, running on Windows 11.

This Week's Shortcut:

Sometimes, when browsing the Web, we land on a webpage that starts playing a noisy ad and we need to turn the sound off. Or perhaps we may need to silence a Youtube video for a bit, or take a sound break from a live radio feed or podcast for a moment.

To mute audio on the current webpage, press Control + M. To get the sound playing again, press Control + M again.

This shortcut works in Microsoft Edge, but, at time of posting, we had inconsistent behaviour in Google Chrome and found that it would not mute ads.
