Learning how to build an accessible PDF is only part of the process - knowing how to test one is just as important. In the second part of this three-part series, Rachel will walk through how to use JAWS to test a PDF for accessibility, covering the key commands and techniques needed to evaluate reading order, tag structure, and navigability from a screen reader perspective. Attendees will learn how to move through a document using JAWS, identify where the reading experience breaks down, and connect those issues back to specific tag problems in Adobe Acrobat. The session will also cover how to document findings and prioritize fixes based on what JAWS reveals during testing. Building on the tags tree foundation covered in Part 1, this session bridges the gap between structure and real-world screen reader performance. Portable OCR on the Go: Reading Print with Ruby 10, Lyric, and ONYX (ACVREP CE Approved, Assistive Technology Webinar)

Reading printed materials on the go presents real challenges for low vision and blind users, and portable OCR devices have become an essential part of solving that problem. In this session, Ian and special guest Joe McDaniel from Vispero will compare three powerful portable OCR solutions -- the Ruby 10, Lyric, and ONYX -- walking through the features, strengths, and ideal use cases for each device. Attendees will see how each device handles a variety of real-world reading tasks including mail, menus, labels, and printed documents, and learn what sets them apart in terms of portability, speed, and accuracy. The session will also cover practical tips for getting the best OCR results in different lighting conditions and environments. Part 3: PDF Accessibility Basics – Field Types and Tooltips (Digital Accessibility Webinar)
Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. PT
Fillable PDF forms present some of the most complex accessibility challenges in document remediation. In the third and final part of this three-part series, Rachel will walk through the basics of making a fillable PDF form accessible, covering field types, proper tab order, tooltip creation, and how screen readers interact with form controls in Adobe Acrobat. Attendees will learn how to identify and correct common form accessibility issues including unlabeled fields, broken tab order, and missing or unclear tooltips that leave screen reader users without critical context. The session will also cover how to test a completed form using JAWS to verify that the experience works as intended before distribution. Wrapping up the full PDF Accessibility Basics series, this session brings together the tags tree knowledge and testing skills from Parts 1 and 2 and applies them to one of the most common and critical PDF use cases.
