Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla is a global, non-profit organisation and community, focused on making the Internet open, accessible and private. They are best known for creating the free, open-source Firefox Web browser in 2004, as a faster, more customisable, more private Web browser, which it continues to strive to be today.
Mozilla advocates for user rights, promoting open standards for a healthier web. We admire this philosophy, and we love their logos!

We have decided to spotlight Firefox in our Shortcut of the Week for the next few months. Many of the shortcuts are the same in all the main Web browsers, but there are some that are specific to Firefox, so we will explain this as we go along.
At time of posting, we are using Firefox version 147.0.1, running on Windows 11.

This Week's Shortcut:

As we all know, the Web has a wealth of information available to us. As you use the links on the pages to move from one page to the next, you may need to retrace your steps. Perhaps you need to access the previous page you were on, or jump to the next.
To go back a page, press Alt + Left Arrow.
To go forward a page, press Alt + Right Arrow.

These shortcuts also work in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.

You can find these shortcuts and previous shortcuts of the week on the website in the <https://sharons-shortcuts.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b8f7789e1b727d353e4123491&id=34b0982994&e=d18fbd04e9> Shortcut of the Week section. As always, if you would like to find out or share a particular shortcut for an everyday task on your PC, please get in touch!

This Week's Webinar Wednesday: Meet the Big Purple Phone

The Big Purple Phone is a new accessible smartphone that has recently become available. This phone features an easy-to-use interface and many key features that are changing the way assistive technology is defined on a mobile device. The phone was designed by Sydney entrepreneur Libby Henderson, who was inspired during the pandemic by the need to create a smart mobile device that was simple to operate for seniors and those needing better accessibility. The Big Purple Phone uses many technological advances and incorporates them into a simple operating interface. The phone itself is made a larger size from the onset, which greatly helps the visibility of its high-contrast touch screen. The phone's apps have big buttons and icons that have high contrast labels, big text and haptic pulse that speaks as you type, and it is designed to display large, full screen notifications for incoming calls, messages and reminders so you will never miss a thing! Join Sight and Sound Tech to learn all about this new and exciting phone, and see how it could be of use to you or a loved one to improve quality of life.
This webinar will take place on Wednesday, 4 March, at 2:00 pm GMT.
