I have started buying those plain white paper plates that are not coated, 
and I use one of them for a cover.  I used to use paper towels, but 
sometimes, they fall down in the food.  I had two of those food covers, but 
they both melted.  Pam.

Yes they can. When I put something in my microwave, & if there isn't a cover
for it, I use a paper towel so that food will be more likely to stay in the
bowl or plate & not the microwave oven.
