Also, you can buy a plastic doam to place over what you are cooking to keep
splatters down. I got one from WalMart for very little money. Just a couple
of dollars.

I also use a small plate over smaller things, especially if I am going to
want to put the bowl I'm heating in with the plate under it.

Yes they can. When I put something in my microwave, & if there isn't a cover
for it, I use a paper towel so that food will be more likely to stay in the
bowl or plate & not the microwave oven.
