Thanks for all the suggestions/input. I ended up going with the Excelife
cooker, that also makes omelets, scrambled eggs, possibly poached (though I
didn't retain that because not a fan); least expensive, and didn't have
silicon; I'm over-sensitive to silicon taste, due to ASD, so was determined
to avoid that. Unfortunately, the problem with the microwave cooker I just
lost is that the cover clear blew off yesterday--so that clinched it, aside
from the fact that it was hard to clean! I like that the one I selected,
like most of the electrics, can do multiple versions of eggs. Thanks again!

Hi, all:

Would like to purchase an electric egg cooker via Amazon, but not sure which
might be accessible to a totally blind person. Mainly plan to use it for
half a dozen boiled eggs, though not averse to other ideas, as long as it is
easy to use in my small kitchen. Thoughts/suggestions?

Hi, Sandra, most of the egg cookers I've seen are easy to use. They come
with a little vessel that you fill with water to put in the bottom of the
unit and since you're just using it for boiling eggs, you just fill it. Then
there's a tray-like thing that you set the eggs on and there's a little
point on the underside of the water vessel that you use to puncture each egg
before you put the cover on to boil them. Then there's just an off/off
switch and when the water has boiled away the unit buzzes at you and some
units even turn off, too. I've noticed that the Dash brand is very
reasonably priced if that's a consideration.

Steaming eggs in the shell is supposed to make peeling them far more
easier.

Another option for making hard boiled eggs that is totally accessible is
the Nordicware Microwave Egg Boiler.? It is fast and convenient, and can
boil up to 4 eggs in less than 10 minutes. You just fill the bottom with
water, place up to 4 eggs on the tray, snap the lid on and place it in
the microwave and set it to the appropriate cooking time.? No need to
pierce the shell, and the eggs come out perfect and easy to peel.? It
sells on Amazon for $13:
