[Sportsandrec] Goalball and soreness

Hey Joe
For goalball I wear elbow pads, softball sliding pads for knee pas because
they cover my shins and football pants as hip pads. Also popular is the
roller hockey pads for hip pads. A lot of people also wear power lifting
gloves or tape their hands somehow to avoid floor or ball burn. It's really
a personal preference thing but wearing proper knee and elbow padding is
imperative to keeping yourself able to play. I've played with little
protection. It hurts lots. Being in a car wreck is the perfect description.
Without padding you don't grow immune. As far as regularly throwing yourself
on the floor, it does get better. It still leaves some soreness but you
really get used to it. Same with the sting when the ball hits you. Some of
the harder throwers may hurt at first but you definitely get better =)
The regular tournament season is about over for the year. There will be a
couple sports camps and educational camps out towards that area if your
organization wants to send some players to get some more experience. Let me
know. I'll send some info!!
As far as ideal number of players: that is sort of to your discursion.
Obviously you need at least three to play but having a sub or two is far
from a bad idea. One team can have up to three subs on the bench during a
game.
During a tournament there is competition for men and women. Both genders
often compete at a tournament but the teams themselves are not coed. There
is separate competition just at the same time.

I'm really glad to here you guys are getting a team together! If you need
any more info, definitely ask =).
Hope this helps!
-Danielle

Clarification, I do wear knee pads and a hoody for knee and elbow
protection. It just looks like there is a lot more out there in padding and

my question was how much do the vets here go with?
Thanks Garv!
