Hello,
Someone asked for a copy of a donation solicitation letter. I have dozens
of these but figure the one I wrote for NABS would be the closest to what
you may need. Feel free to change it to reflect Sports and Recreation, and
call me or write off list if you need further assistance on it.
Dear Sir/Madam:
The National Association of Blind Students (NABS) is a non-profit
organization devoted to the advancement of blind students in the country.
Through instructional seminars, regional and national conventions,
literature and social activities NABS works diligently to promote the
education and independence of blind students across the country. Recently,
our key area of focus has been increasing textbook accessibility at the
postsecondary level so that college students might compete on an equal
playing field with their sighted peers. This year, NABS will be hosting its
annual midwinter conference in Washington DC at the Holiday Inn Capital
(202) 479-4000. These conferences typically attract students, parents,
teachers and related professionals from around the nation. Traditionally,
our attendance is in the range of 150 to 200 guests. Hospitality is an
important part of the event, and we like to show case businesses frequented
by our many participants when traveling to subsequent conferences in other
cities.
As a non-profit organization, NABS relies on active fund raising and
contributions from the community to help sponsor these educational
activities. Contributions may include items appropriate for door prizes
which are awarded by way of a random draw of registered participants at
various points throughout the proceedings. Contributions may also take the
shape of tax-deductible donations. Unless otherwise specified by the donor,
these funds would help meet logistical and programmatic expenses associated
with the management of the conference. Full credit and recognition of the
contributor is given at the time of award as well as advertisement on our
program, sponsor's board and web site.
Noting previous assistance rendered to community projects involving youth
activities, we would be grateful for any monetary donations or gifts in kind
to assist with delivering the best possible conference to our participants.
For many students, such opportunities as this are rare and far between, and
it is our goal to be able to provide positive inspirations so that we might
establish and cultivate future community leaders. We are a 501(C) (3) tax
exempt organization by way of the National Federation of the Blind, and upon
receipt of your contributions we will promptly provide written proof for
your own tax purposes.
Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to working with you
soon.
Sincerely,
Joe Orozco
