Hi LM, and all,
Hesitation's one thing. Party-poopers are another. Does what you're saying
above mean we've been told we can't skate, those of us adventurous enough
to? Or are we covered by the waiver and allowed to skate?
As far as the tandeming thing goes, well, yeah, there's always next year. I
like that idea of getting various tandeming groups around the country,
involved, if there are any in or near the cities we're conventioning in each
year. It seemed to work well in Dallas a few years ago.
Thanks,
Everett

Wonderful idea, but this spur of the moment tandem thing cannot happen this
year. First of all, whent the Skating Canes wanted to skate during the
march, there was some hesitation from the march coordinators. Secondly,
Sports and Rec had to be super on top of things this summer. Anything that
wasn't nailed down 2 months ago just cannot happen in the name of Sports and
Rec this convention.
This year, liability waivers have to be signed for all activities. The
waiver specifically covers what extravaganza activities are already planned.
Great idea, but perhaps next year?

LM, or anyone else now I suppose, what do you think of the possibility
of getting some tandem cyclists to ride in the March with us? Nothing
official, of course, since it's so close to convention. But maybe just a
few if possible, to add a little something regarding sports and recreation
and blind stokers, y'know? If the tandems are there at the gathering at
the end of the March, where we'll all be meeting, some of them might get
seen
in the background or something, y'know? Just a thought. It seems as simple
as asking if anyone in the region would care to show up that morning, for a
ride--albeit a short one. We could hopefully get a few blind stokers on
the bikes too if they weren't set on walking. And even if we couldn't, we
might...
