Hi List,

I want to squash further discussion on some recent tpostings to this list that I believe can get out of hand.

Yesterday, a board member of the Sports and Recreation Division wrote an email to the list attempting to educate members on the hard work the board puts into planning events. He was, rightfully so, insulted by the lack of grattitude. He was simply expressing his opinions on how some people take for granted the work board members put into planning events. Pulling off an activity like the Extravaganza takes time and lots of careful consideration. As someone that I personally appointed to help moderate the list, this board member was simply defending the hard work put forth by the board not policing anything in particular. don't slam him.

I think people do not always understand the hard work and careful planning put forth to make an event happen. It is frustrating at times, as president, to have an event planned out and then someone asking to have it changed. Somehow, it makes me look like a bad president when I don't allow this activity to happen. Usually, it is not allowed because of por planning or it simply can't happen for complicated reasons.

I don't mind people expressing their feelings and thoughts on this list. However, it must be done respectfully. Sometimes, it is more appropriate to simply not post your thoughts.

I don't want this issue to escalate. I don't want people to be irritated at others for this reason or that reason, because he said that or she said that. frankly, I am sick of all the personal emails sent to me by people whining because they are unhappy with this list or that list. Since the beginning of the year, I've had people threatening to leave this list because of unappropriate posts. I've had people email me and call me to complain about how some people phrase their emails. Frankly, we all need to grow up. If you don't like something someone says, delete the email. If you consistently do not like what they say, don't read their emails.

I am astounded at how much we do not act like adults on this list. Yeah, I'm probably going way beyond what is appropriate for a president to say, but seriously everyone ...

Let's get along and concentrate on making this year's extravaganza worthwhile. Let's save new ideas and plans for next year. Let's not criticize each other but help each other make the best of what is already set to happen.

Really, let's make this list a real list where we network and share ideas. Not point fingers. Or else ... I'll leave the list.

Regards,
Lisamaria

P.S. If you want to be mad at someone, always blame me.
