[Sportsandrec] A couple cardio things

Danielle,
Yes that's a sad situation. Hopefully you two can brainstorm ideas and get
her to try something. My last message had ideas. Maybe she'd like working
out outside. If she has a guide and sufficient space to do it, aerobic
activities outdoors are good. Walking, jogging, cycling and swimming are
some. Also canoeing and boating are aerobic but I don't think would burn as
many calories.
You said
"But there has to be SOMETHING she can do that'll
make it more fun for her."
I agree. There are many options out there and hopefully something will be
fun for her. Many sports that are fun are too visual without adaptations
like soccer and basketball. So you have to think up other things. My dad
was never into going to gyms but he did enjoy aerobic videos. Videos are
not accessible. But if she had a good friend knowledgable about fitness,
they could describe the routine and then she'd know what to do.
Exercising to music often makes workouts more fun. She could try that. If
she has friends who are supportive willing to play adaptive games, she could
do this. Skills of basketball such as dribbling provide good exercise.
Talk to her about her interests and see what you can come up with. Being
mean and telling her to get over it and just go do it will not be
motivating. Find out her questions and concerns and any interests and you
may come up with something.
Ashley
