Tandem Teams Clark Rachfal/Dave Swanson and Karissa Whitsell/Mackenzie
Woodring Haul in Medals

USABA tandem cycling team Clark Rachfal (Annapolis, MD) and Dave Swanson
(Tucson, AZ) first attended USABA's Learn to Race Cycling Camp in Colorado
Springs only a few years ago now they are World Champions. Through an
immense amount of commitment and training Clark and Dave stood atop the
medal stand at the UCI ParaCycling World Track Championships. They were
able to shave off 0.5 seconds from their semifinal effort to claim gold over
a strong Spanish team by 5.5 seconds to win the Men's Blind/VI Pursuit.
They are pictured below on the podium.

Karissa Whitsell (Eugene, OR) and Mackenzie Woodring (Grand Rapids, MI)
continued their dominance on the international stage winning gold in the
Women's Blind/VI Pursuit and silver in the Kilo Time Trial. This is
Karissa's 6th World Championship title and 3rd with pilot Mackenzie
Woodring. This also marks the teams first World Championship together on
the track. They are pictured below on the medal stand.

USABA would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the tandem
cycling pilots and guide runners across the nation. It is because of them
that the dreams of USABA athletes, no matter how big or small, are able to
come true. Thank you for fueling their dreams. If you would like
information about the next USABA Learn to Race Cycling Camp, please visit
www.usaba.org or email Pam Fernandes at pamela at quik.com.
