Subject: BORP Goalball Invitational Report

Hello BORP Goalball fans,

BORP Tournament 15 was a long (our longest ever) and thrilling day of
goalball. The day ended with an exciting shoot-out round that went into
sudden death to finally determine a winner. This was our first shoot-out in
the 15 years of the event.

The final was a tense affair between the Legends coached by Kim Cruz (Victor
Hakopian, Roger Acuna, Khemnesuel Fisher) and the Hatlen Center Tigers
(Brandon Young, Sergio Garcia, Rusty Renden). With 14 seconds left in the
game and tied 4-4 the Tigers were called for a high ball penalty and the
Legends Hakopian converted for a 5-4 lead. With only time for one throw left
the Tigers pinned their hopes on Brandon Young and he came though with a
bullet in the slot to earn the tie, 5-5. All the goals in regulation were
scored by Hakopian and Young.

The shoot-out had its own share of excitement as the 2 teams worn down by a
long day had a tough time converting their chances. A premature celebration
by the Tigers as they went up by a goal in the shoot-out led to 2 eyeshade
penalties being called on their team. As the tension rose with each throw,
the Tigers rose to the challenge and kept the Legends from scoring. With the
last penalty throw blocked the Tigers made sure they waited for the
referee's call before starting their wild victory dance.

Defenses were stretched to the utmost to corral the bombs being thrown by
top scorers Brandon Young (27 Tigers), Kammy Ryding (25 Team
Estrogen) and Victor Hakopian (23 Legends). The above 3 also played
outstanding defense along with: Cathy Morgan (Team Estrogen), and Ahmad
Mshaiel (River Bats).

Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers and sponsors for their support.
There is no way the tournament would be so much fun without the enthusiastic
participation of these individuals and businesses.

Please see the attached excel spread sheet for individual and team totals.
More fun with numbers is likely to follow.

Jonathan
