The U.S. Association of Blind Athletes
is recruiting runners who are blind and visually impaired to train for and
participate in the
27th California International Marathon
On Sunday, December 6, 2009
Anyone physically fit to run 26.2 miles can enter the California
International Marathon. Walkers may enter, but the course closes at a
participant pace of 13 minutes/44 seconds per mile (a 6-hour finish time).

USABA will provide up to 8 runners (and their guide runners) USABA shorts
and singlets. These same 8 runners will also receive $200 post-race
reimbursement to offset competition expenses. Runners receiving USABA
support must be current USABA members and will be chosen on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Contact Rich Cardillo or John Potts immediately, but not
later than November 16, 2009, (contact information provided below) if you
are interested in competing and receiving funding support as a "Team USABA"
member.
Again, In order to compete in the California International Marathon and
receive USABA funding support, you must contact USABA at contact points
listed below not later than
November 16, 2009. Training must commence upon acceptance of their
participation. All entrants must be able to complete the marathon in 6
hours (this is a course requirement for all entrants).
