Yeah, I agree.  It should be practiced equally, but nott as a primary
option. So many time,  the blind man is told to get them on the ground.  If
it happens, then great.  You have been practicing that anyway, but it is a
bad idea to use that or wrestling as first line of defense.  Striking, or a
good throw are what you want.  Even standing chokes and arm bars, while
brilliant techniques which should be learned are good options to have,  that
serves to entangle you with an opponent.  Without sight, you may not know
how many attackers there are.  Unless you are abel to use the attacker as a
shield, or you do the damage quickly,  you could be setting your-self up for
an attack from a quarter which will be harder for you to defend against.
