Pick those legs up, knees a little higher.  It sill hekp you find a rythum,
and you can feel your center line a little easier.

Justin, 

I usually tap my fingers on the front bar with each stride similar to
pumping the arms while running outside. I find that trying to contact the
side railsthrows off my form and without that front contact I still wander
off the back or into the display. 

Your choppy form will also probably improve as you develop "running
strength" in your legs, especially if you weren't a runner before. The body
will generally find it's most efficient formover time.
