Hi Arielle, I have kayaked a couple of times with my husband in a double.
1. Wear a lifejacket. Best to think safety. If you are doing white water, I reocommnd a helmet.
2. If you are the only blind person, I would be part of a double. Same principle as a tandem bike. You provide the power and sighted person keeps you on course. Rocks are just as bad to hit as a moving car when biking.
