I
when I was in high school and college, I was a member of several of the
sports teams. (wrestling, track&field, and rowing) wrestling and
rowing in college.
Most of the training I did when I was in high school was at home.
My dad had a weight set that I used, but I also jumped rope, did lots
of push-ups/sit-ups, and had access to a heavy bag for boxing training.
you could do any or all of these, calf raises at the end of a step
where just the balls of your feet are on the step, then raise/lower
yourself with a good stretch at the bottom, or running stairs (if your
not in a single level home.
Your treadmill which you mentioned is good, read about interval
training to keep it interesting.
you could also ask your parents to purchase a few kilo bands for you.
there are many training articles on the net that use kilo band training
for resistance, as well as many body weight exercises.
compliment these with a good yoga or stretching routine and you'll be
as fit as anyone.
bottom line is, You don't really need special equipment, any activity
that raises your heart rate for over 20 minutes, or provides enough
resistance tiring the muscles through repetition will keep you fit.
best of luck!
Mike

Subject: [Sportsandrec] introduction and a question
Hello Everyone
My name is Lillie and I am currently a high school junior. I am curious
about what things you guys do to keep and stay fit?
I would personally love to be more physically active. I do not have
access
or transportation to get to a pool for swimming (and public
transportation
is horrible around here so I couldn't get there myself), and there's not
many places where I can walk outside around here either. I do have
access to
a treadmill. I unfortuneately do not have access to my schools fitness
facilities since I have taken all of my required gym classes.
I would love to hear any thoughts, and how especially from the student
perspective.
