I think one key to long term activity to keep one fit  is to find  something
you enjoy. If you don't  enjoy an activity you are not  likely to keep at
it. for example I have no  interest in  dancing. In fact I all but refuse to
hit the dance floor so for me to join a  dance group would not work even
thow  I know it is a great way to keep fit. 

I would rather chase parked cars with my dog but I  won't do that either. 

 OK just being silly but my point is just to find something enjoyable to
keep yourself moving. 

And never sit on the  couch for more than a half hour without at least
getting up  and  doing something for a minute even if you come back and sit
down again for a while. Just my opinion.
