[Sportsandrec] [Portlander] Fitness in Maryland

Karen,

That is so true; your fitness goals are your own journey and as humans we
compare ourselves to each other.
Your message was so encouraging. You said you cannot do some advanced
exercises, so you do what you can. Man, lunges are too hard for me even
since I lose my balance and it bothers my knees. So, if you do lunges well,
you are ahead of me.
Wow, there are so many squat variations.
Never heard of the Bulgarian Split Squats.
And I've only seen and been shown front squats with my last personal
trainer. How do you do back squats?

I'd like to hear about cross fit and how you fit into that setting so I'll
start a new thread on that.

Ashley

Cindy,

Anyone's fitness journey is just that--a journey. I am overweight and Joe
just got me going to CrossFit. I scale everything. I can't do pull ups, so I
do ring rows. I surely can't do Bulgarian Split Squats, so I do lunges
(which I still can't do well!). I'm working toward doing regular back
squats. I can only use the bar for front squats and overhead squats, and
only just started doing that! I used a PVC pipe bar at first! I've been
going for a month and already seeing improvement, but I have a looooonnngg
way to go to be even remotely good. And that's okay. I'm up and moving and
putting on muscle and losing fat. The coaches are patient and supportive.
Find a fitness you like and go for it!
