oh there's the president or leader of a country named No, maybe is Korea.
well, I grew up near Elkhorn slough and jaws pronounces it
sluff. proper pronunciation seems to have been slew. thus we have s
l e w as the older english for kill or the more meaning to slide
over. and slough, a body of water where fresh and salt water meet
including some marshing. today called wetlands, because you can't
call them swamps anymore.
there's rain (water coming from the sky) r a i n, and at least
two other homophones: r e i n (how you steer a horse),
and r e i g n as the reign of a king. of course r a y i n ' is
almost pronounced the same.
anybody know whether to 'braille up' a sail on a sailing ship is
spelled like our dot language system and its creator Louis
Braille? if it is b r a i l than you have another pair of homophones.
oh! it is such a specialized term I didn't think my wordweb would
have it, but b r a i l refers to a small fishing net, or a small
rope, as well as to taking in a sail with a small rope. so, b r a i
l and b r a i l l e are homophones.
