Unless you know what paper your writing for, just write write what you want,
and find someone who will publish it for you until you get a gig.

Amy, Each of us is an individual.  Consequently we all do it differently. 
It's like the question, "Do you eat the potatoes before the meat?  Do you 
eat the meat first?  Do you eat them simultaneously?  Is there a right way 
to do this?  That's the answer I have about how I write.  In short, there is
