[stylist] Does anyone want to be blind?

In point of fact I don't think any of us are in a position to judge parents
who want what they perceive to be better for their child. The truth is that
with the proper training a person can function very well if they have the
proper skills. In my opinion it is better to function with vision if the
vision itself does not hamper a fulfilling life. I wish I read Braille but
I don't. Do I sometimes yearn for the days when I picked up a book and read
it? You bet. However, since I never worked a computer without voice I
can't imagine doing that. I have no problem dealing with my screen reader.
Is a doctor right in helping a patient get their vision back? Yes, if he
believes there's a chance. No if he's just spinning his wheals to give a
patient false hope. When I lost my sight because of MS my neurologist
couldn't do anything but give me tranquilizers and sleeping pills. He
couldn't refer me to an agency or organization that could help me. Pretty
bleak. I was almost a drug addict when my husband took me to a wonderful
physician who got me off the junk. It's all where you are coming from.
Let's stop passing judgment on those who aren't on trial. Judith
