David came up with a third.   He is totally blind, so he needs speech with 
his computer.   At work he had a talking computer with a screen.   He would 
type his question to the deaf person, who could read the screen.   Then s/he 
  would type her answer, and the laptop would read it back to him.   It 
worked fine.   (He worked in a hospital, but is now retired)
