I understand where you are coming from Helene, but your readers have to know 
what time frame they are reading in.  Lori is right.  Putting colquial (I 
know I misspelled it) are the late twentieth century or early twenty-first 
century.  If the story is being told in the future your reader should know 
this by hinting about it in the early part of your text.  Judith
